Last year the week after Christmas was my biggest retail week of the year so you're darn tootin' I'm open.

Hoping for a repeat.

I think the reason is many folks are off work this week and have time to come in and get framing orders placed.
 
We are closed today, just as a mental health day to recover from last week. It's business as usual after today, however. This should be another great week!

I am open today, but I am thinking about closing on the 31st to give a 3-day weekend.
Today starts the post holiday clean up.

Open Today!! And my same customer who buys a special print for her daughter every year and has me frame it the day after Christmas just called to say they are on their way to my store!! Worth it!!

Also, we have shortened hours this week - just to be here and have presence!!

We will also be taking a 3 day weekend for the New Year!! That helps the physical and mental recovery process - ALOT!!

I was planning to be open today, but still need another recoop day, so I'm closed. Business neighbor changed the sign on the shop doors for me, added "and the day after". I'm still just whooped.

Back as usual tomorrow, though.
 
open normal hours today...had 6 good jobs come in already (before noon). will open normal hours and close New Years Day only.
 
Had an in-home consultation at 9AM this morning, a corporate client messengered 50 posters to be framed, took in several more orders, have to drive to a customer's place 50 miles away here in a bit to pick up 2 large frames to have the images switched inside them, and on the way home from work I'm dropping off some bottles of champagne with gift certificates to some good customers. Tomorrow there is a big shadowbox collage to tackle, 2 small shadowboxes, 1 large framed painting to crate for shipment, and 1 paper print to ship. The accountant is already asking when he might be expecting the numbers. Where did the rest time go?
 
I'm closed until the 3rd! I need this week to get my head back together and to make up for the time away from my family!

I told all of my customers that came in that we would be closed and I put a sign on the door saying if they come back they would receive a 20% discount on any new framing order! This usually brings them back and it's worth it to have a whole week at home.

I also leave my Cell phone number on the door in case someone needs to pick something up. I will meet them there. But that is it!

I am worn out!!

This was my biggest month ever! And my biggest year ever.

Congratulations, Jen. Me too, my best month and even though it's only my second year in this shop, it's still the best year/month I've ever had in all the years I've been in this business. I'm worn out too, but so very grateful, it's a good kind of worn out.

On another thread, about what changes/improvements did we make in our shops this year, will you go there and tell us what you did to help make it your record month/year?
 
1st time open in 5 years

The last two years I received complaints about being closed so I opened today - me only - my college student helpers will be in next week and I will be home but on call if needed.

Today was a good day so I think it will be worth it. :)
