I made one not too long ago. I went to a store that sells second hand store displays and bought what looked like a former sunglasses display. It had a square base, also with casters. It was easy to remove the plexiglass upper section, then built and attached a similar wood display, finished with black carpeting. I think I spent about $25 in materials.
