Now that these presses have been commonly sold to the framing market for a few years, what does the experience with them look like?

What do they work well on, what doesn't work well?

Any brand recommendations for a 48" or 60" wide model?

Any deals out there?

I am currently spending travel time and money to job out our mounting of decorative posters over 40 x 60 and am reconsidering the roller press.

Thanks

Steph has one for sale in upstate NY.

She seems very happy with hers. (the sale is not because she's displeased.
You might give her a call.

I've had one for about three years. Kind of a love/hate thing. It's taken a lot of experimentation. You have to realize it's limitations. But it does have a few advantages. I run speedmount or kooltack through it and I'm now getting good results. I run it on the slowest speed setting and I seem to have eliminated bubbling. Really frustrated the first couple of years. Support was like "we don't know a lot about your problems" kind of thing. Just figured out stuff on my own. Laminating sometimes worked, sometimes did not.

I still use my 500TX. But will jump to the roller press from time to time. I think others that have one will feel the same as I.

But I think it would serve you well for mounting posters or prints. Should be some deals out there on used equipment.

I hope this helps.

Kirstie:

It's not just the machine, but also the support behind it.

That is one of the reasons I really like CODA. Their machines aren't pretty, but they are well built. Best yet is the support level, and they also make pre-coated materials (like the Kool Tack folks).

If the Northern CA rep is anything like the So Cal rep, you will receive excellent personal attention and visits to your shop to help troubleshoot a host of problems.
