I am in mourning for the late, great Rising mat boards.
But, I am wondering if they are being produced again in some undisclosed location. Or not yet, or ever.
Heck, I'd take a knock-off 'bout now.

Anyone know if I can get comparable mat boards ( NOT Crescent, NOT Bainbridge, NOT artique) from someone? Hey, if it helps, I buy these 1000 boards at a time.

Wally, Maria, Hugh?

Godess, I looked and I can't find were it says Rising mats are a thing of the past. I know Neenah papers recently bought Fox River Papers and is closing the mill they used to make it at but they were going to be moving production of the products made at that mill to other mills. I haven't gotten any notices from my supplier that Rising is discontinued. I just ordered some this morning. I don't order large quantities so maybe it's just in limited supply right now till they switch production over.

ETFG,
I just got off the phone with Jon Dorfman, and the story goes that they have plenty of stock to make the transition from one manufacturing facility to the next, even if the next is not quite nailed down as of yet.
He said your nearest sources are Don Mar and M&M. Mine are Southern (Atlanta) and UMS (Boca Raton). I talked a bit about forming a buyers group, and he was open to the idea, although cautionary about being able to actually save money on that.
His new number is (800) 727-3716 ext106...on the west coast somewhere.

Legion is the national distributor dealing primarily with regional ditributors and large accounts. They won't sell direct unless we either buy a ton of product...effectively stocking at distributor level, or if the regional distributor can't or won't handle the particular product (like I can't get 48x96 4-ply warm white from my regional supplier).
The add was probably designed and placed long before they moved their operation tot he west coast. They still have distribution form NJ, but offices are gone from east coast.

Rising

I work for a UK co who are the distributors for Rising. We have had a letter from the new owners which says that unless a buyer can be found for the Rising mill the Museum boards will soon no longer be made.

When I hear anymore news I will post it here. I hope to meet a few colleagues in the trade at Baltimore and find out what other sellers of Rising are planning to do to deal with this sad news.

Thanks Peter, The question remains about availability of the larger offereings (48x96 & the even bigger one I can't remember the size of right now). Is that something that can be cost effectively ordered through United?
