I was wondering how Eclipse fits into the new wizard lineup of CMC's and is it still a viable option? Is it being phased out or will it continue to be a developing product? Am I nuts to consider buying an eclipse right now?

IMHO Eclipse had/has a superior machine over the Wizard machine. Wizard has the best software to run the machine hands down. The marriage of the two should be the best of both worlds.

I have an 8000 Wizard and I am happy with it's performance. However, it can't cut the really intricate cuts that I would like to make some times.

You can operate your business with either machine. The real questions would be, are you going to buy, rent, lease? Your decision on those questions will point the way for you to go.

I agree that Eclipse has the better mechanical platform. We spent quite a bit of time comparing the Wizard and the Eclipse and at the time we chose the Eclipse because of that. When we bought it we also liked the Eclipse Software better as it seemed to be more user friendly and with the promised upgrades we believed the software would eventually, at the very least, catch up to the Wizard software features and built in clip art library. That as we Eclipse users know never happened. We waited... and we waited but NEXUS 4.0 turned out to be a bug laden disappointment. I am very happy to have Wizards Matdesigner Software which they were gracious enough to supply to us for the Eclipse Platform. We have never had any mechanical issues to speak of.

We've had our Eclipse Pro for 3 years. At times, it cuts mats all day long and we have yet to have one single mechanical problem. I can't speak for the Wizard CMCs but I would assume them to be very good, although Eclipse has a fairly bulletproof reputation.
As an Eclipse owner, we were always short changed by the software to run the CMC. Now that Wizard has released the MatDesigner for the Eclipse, we have the best of both worlds. Thank you Wizard!!
A word of caution....the calibration for MatDesigner/Eclipse is very time consuming compared to the old Eclipse software.....but very worth the time!

Good luck!
