I need help fixing a INMES 1M-5PT under pinner and also an Amp under pinner. Does anyone know of someone who does repairs on these two machines. I love the INMES but I don't think they are sold in the US anymore. Thanks!

Good morning Danny

If you don't already have the troubleshooting/tech manual and parts list, it is in our library at https://www.thegrumble.com/data/manuals/Inmes_IM-5P_Underpinner_Manual.pdf
(pages 20 and 21)

After the partnership with the US supplier Vendor ended, I know Mark Butwinski started a US division in 2012. The contact was www.INMES-USA.com Checking out that website now, it looks like they have it forwarded to the parent website in Brazil. This partnership likely ended. To order parts directly from Brazil, it looks like you can do so at
https://inmes.com.br/assistencia-tecnica/?lang=en Technical Assistance - Inmes with tech support directly to them at +55 (48) 3651 - 2300 I believe Mark set up on-site support resources back then. That resource may or may not still be available. At the time, he said:
I expect to have a trained network of 200 to 300 technicians available through ON-Site Maintenance to support our products.

The manual for the AMP is likely in the library also, at www.thegrumble.com/manuals

There aren't too many things that can go wrong with underpinners, and folks on the forum will usually be able to help you troubleshoot the symptoms and help you to adjust or replace whatever the culprit is.

Underpinner Spares (UK) is another great resource and source of common parts, especially for the AMP model. They are regular visitors to the forum, and ship to USA.

Hi Mike, thanks for the info. I would like to find someone in the Atlanta area who can work on these machines. I may end up buying a new one. I have orders to get out and I know it would take a lot of time to order parts and attempt to fix this myself. Have a great 4th!

Paying an expert to travel to your shop, diagnose a problem and install a few parts, might cost more than the machine is worth. However, if you can fix it yourself, then the cost would be much less; maybe only $100 to $300.

You didn't say what's wrong with either of your underpinners, but if you give us a clear description of the problem, the experienced framers here may be able to help you. Often, adjustments or proper lubrication can solve the problem.

For your Inmes underpinner, parts are probably not readily available. Some Inmes owners, who really like their machines, buy spares to cannibalize for parts to keep one of them going. Inmes underpinners have a relatively low resale value. Sometimes a needed part can be custom fabricated locally.

For your Fletcher/AMP/ITW/Mitre Mite/Putnam/Minigraf underpinner, nearly all parts are readily available from stock. By trial and error, or maybe by simply observing, one can usually determine which parts are not working properly and identify them using the parts list. The repair generally involves disconnecting a pneumatic tube or two, replacing the faulty part, and then correctly reconnecting the tubes.

Below is contact information for some professional service technicians I've heard good comments about. They all have their specialties but may be able to help you.

CMCs are more complicated, and the makers generally have in-house tech support people that can often walk you through an economical fix with a few recommended parts. Some also have routine maintenance/repair programs and traveling service representatives, but a service call can cost $2,000 or more for time and travel expenses.

Hi Jim,
Thank you so much for this valuable information. I will contact these guys and see if I can get the repairs done on my machine. Have a great day!
Danny
