I have just ran a free trail of a program called RegistyFix and it found a whole host of "problems." the initial fixes are free, but I wonder if this is a legimate concern for computers.

What ya techgods/goddess think?

Lots of programs on the market find lots of things that are allegedly not OK and claim they can fix them, for a fee.

I really doubt you will need to fix anything in the Registry, If anything, maybe it needs some cleaning (leftovers from programs that were uninstalled; those usually don't hurt and only certain programs should clean them up).

Lots of free programs can do that.

If you really insist on cleaning up the Registry: A very good one is from Karen Kenworthy, she's been writing lots of great programs for a long time, and she offers them free of charge.

Here's her version of the Registry Cleaner:

PS: Always backup the Registry before running any such programs, as follows:

Start/ Run / Regedit, go to File / Export, give the backup a name, done.
