Framar
WOW Framer
Just had to share with y'all my visit from Sam, aka FiveCorners, one of our Aussie Grumblers.
Since he has dual citizenship, he has been staying with his brother, sister-in-law and their two children and living in NYC for the last several months. The whole gang had a little vacation at Niagara Falls and then Sam made his way to my shop in Buffalo for a three day stay.
I have never talked so much about framing in my life - and I have had visits at my shop from other framers but never at my home! What fun! he scrutinized every frame and asked questions and made comments. It was framer's heaven!
Sam is a handsome young man (looks like Matthew Fox in LOST - only clean-shaven) and very polite and well-educated and interested in everything. He even was polite (or desperate) enough to eat a meal prepared by me (!) and I had to shoo him away from the sink because he tried to do the dishes! He also tried to open every door we went through even though, as used to being a loner as I am, I managed to barge through ahead of him most of the time.
During his time in Buffalo he also visited three other frame shops - which was pretty difficult for him because he has no American driver's license and was forced to make his way around on the bus.
He is VERY serious about framing and he is also a stellar photographer - he treated me to an astonishing slide show of photos taken at the Falls - each was better than the last! He had his camera snapping away while we were just driving around and managed to get terrific shots of Buffalo too.
Right now Sam is in the Pacific Northwest for a while so if he calls any of you Grumblers from up there - invite him for a visit! You simply could not find a more polite guest or an enthusiastic framer. And when you take him on a tour of your area's famous sites Sam will show you things you have never thought to look at!
Spending that much time talking with only one other Grumbler has started to get me really worried about my vocal chords after Baer's fabric class in two weeks. Just think - a whole building full of Grumblers!!!
