Change your email address and you will be issued a new password.

This password is CaSeSenSitIve.

Every email I receive about user not being able to log on after changing their email is about this. Everone that sent me a user name and password that they said didn,t work, worked for me.

****** the stars hide what your type. Try cut and paste from your email if needed. Also type the username and password in a word processor to check it. Make sure there are no tailing spaces.

Thanks for your reading this and understanding whats going on.

The problem here is that I changed my address and never, ever got a password for PurplePerson. I waited and waited and checked my incoming e-mails more than once to see if I got it. I did not.

Then I re-signed up as PurplePerson1 and received a password. I copied and pasted it several times and it did not make any difference, the board would still not let me back on.

I finally got back on as Purple Person1 with a new and different password. Therefore I must start over with post number1

I changed my address as PurplePerson, and that is what I want to be. . . not PurplePerson1. I followed all of the directions correctly, and did not get a password for the real me.

Can anyone help me?

Perhaps, I should have gone to the lost password phrase when I tried to sign on the first time, but it still calls me PurplePerson1 now, even though I ask for a new password under PurplePerson. When I try to change my name to PurplePerson, in my Profile,it says that PurplePerson is already taken.

I am very unhappy.

I am at a complete loss about what to do to help PurplePerson(1) with her problem. I'm not even sure about how I'd feel about starting over as Ron_Eggers1. Maybe it would be a fresh start - like rolling back the odometer on a car with too many miles. Maybe when I hit 10,000 posts - in August of 2004 - the odometer will reset to zero anyway.

To be on the safe side, I will never, ever change my email address.

Purp, I don't mean to make light of your predicament, but is this honestly the worst thing that has happened to you - in February?

Shovelling snow was the worst, but this is totally ridiculous.

Not only did I not do things incorrectly but I still never got the new password when I did the sign- over correctly. I am not stupid. For all of my foolin around I do, there is a bright person inside of me. I am no idiot to be used to make an example of.

I followed the rules, until forced to do otherwise.

The rule maker didn't play by the rules he created.

Purple Preson, we miss you. Just start posting with your new name and from time to time, try the old one. Maybe some day it will work.

Easy, Purp.
framer has more going on than any of us know about. I've tried to search for the old thread that told you what to do if you changed your email, and couldn't get back in. I'm still working on it, as far as searching for it is concerned.
It'll be ok, really it will. We still see you ;) when you post, so everything's ok. Give it a little time, in my humble opinion.

I must apologize to Framer for how frantic I have been over my signature.

Frantic is what happens to me when something dear to me happens, especially when I can do nothing about it.

Framer, I apologize for yelling at you and attacking you, especially on the board.

I need to get on with my life.

Good for you, Purp! It takes a big person, in my opinion, to apologize!
Also, I've learned that you catch more 'framers' with honey, than you do with vinegar!

Oddly enough, many Grumblers have re-registered on purpose, for a variety of reasons. Lois Bauby does this every-other week. ;)

Remember, you can change the screen name (in your profile) that other Grumblers see without re-registering. But you can't ever change it back to the previous one since that's already "in use." Your log-in name always stays the same, unless you re-register.

But, more often, users change their email addresses and often have difficulty logging back on to The Grumble. I wonder sometimes if the new email address may come with default filter settings that prevent the new password from arriving. (That's a long-shot.)

Changing an email address is a pain for everyone. Some of us change internet servie providers. (I do THAT every other week.) If you get a free Hotmail or Yahoo email address, it can stay with you through all the service changes. If you're considering changing addresses 'cause you're getting too much spam, maybe leave the old address as your "grumble contact" and filter it aggressively. Many service providers allow multiple addresses per user.

Try to remember that the moderators have no special password powers. (Charles can attest to that.) If you get locked out by a new email address, we will be sympathetic, but probably not very helpful.

Congrats, Purp! Glad to see you back in all your radiant glory!!!
