You all need to read the announcement. Failure to read it may cause you to not be able to log in. Write this down. CODE:IDIDNOTREAD Place the code in your email subject line with your userid not your screen name with your email on record on the G and a new password will be mailed to you.

Without this code it could be a long time to get service on this.

Bill just to be sure I got what you are looking for here. You want me to e-mail you a message with my subject line being IDIDNOTREAD and the body of my e-mail will be the name I enter when I log in just above the current password that I enter. This e-mail is to be sent to the address that comes up when I click on your name under your avatar and then click on the "Send e-mail to this member".
 
Where are we supposed to send this email, Bill?

Is "userid" also known as a password?

Should we start doing this now or after the upgrade on Sunday?
 
Ok... sent an email via the Grumble to you Bill. It does not show up in my sent mail though.

Is this normal since it was sent through the "G" instead of from www.gmail.com?
 
Hey Bill, is there any way this info could go out to the entire membership in an email? Barring that, perhaps a sticky in each each and every forum?

Like the Grumble sends an email for friendship requests?

I am afraid you are gonna lose a whole lot of Grumblers who are not here every day or who do not read every post. I remember we lost a number last changeover and a new password was not required for that.
 
We only need to email the code to you if we don't know our password, right? I read the announcement and got the impression that our old password will work with the new server, is this right?

I think I got it... go back and READ THE ANNOUNCEMENT!!! The one he posted above all other posts about the new server.

That tells you about the switchover as well as the fact that you need to relog into the new server.

I think this post is about after the switchover and you have forgotten your password and such. By emailing to him, he will give you a password to log in so you can then reset it to whatever you want.
Note that in the subject line you are requested to type in:

IDIDNOTREAD as in... I did not read the announcement!!

I think you are right!

FYI, the "Announcement" is pinned at the very top (above the messages header) on every forum.

I'm guessing we only need to email this IF we forget our password? Or do we all need new passwords regardless. And either way, it doesn't say what email address to send to.

Or are your instructions for those whom, after the switch, forget their passwords - but they can read this message?
 
I went back and read the original and it seems to be telling me if I know my existing stuff I don't need this info. I can see a huge spike in Valium and Xanax sales this weekend.
 
I was watching the views and nobody was reading the announcement.

Your userid is the name you log in with. For some it's their screen handle but some use different names.

If you know your userid and password you will be fine. I have a filter set to put anything with the subject line "IDIDNOTREAD" in a special area for my attention. I get 500-700 emails a day 95% spam this will get you faster service.

You will also be able to recover your PW with the lost password link, but you must be able to except an automated email.

And remind people that the "skin" will be able to be changed, but after the holidays.

I can already hear people saying they miss the "old look". So please fellow grumblers, let Bill have a holiday, enjoy the ringing in of the new year and we'll get a "better" look in 2011.
