re: the "new" Inmes IM-5P Underpinner

Mine just arrived last week. It is a sweet machine. I shopped underpinners pretty thoroughly at Atlanta and chose the 5P because it had the features I was looking for. Price was not the deciding factor although the Inmes machine is a bargain. It is a Brazilian machine but the fit and finish are quite impressive.

I purchased mine from PAM Fastening Technology

Thanks for the info Peter. I just went to the PAM website, they arent listing this one. Can you tell me what you like about this one, over others. Seemed like most people were steering me toward the ITW VN42. Appreciate your advice.

The VN42 is a good machine and was one of the main contenders along with the new fletcher. I was replacing an almost 20 year old alfamacchine and my main requirements were larger capacity, hydraulic clamps and a movable v-nail driver system. There were several good machines that had these features.

The features of the Inmes machine that tipped the balance were the ease of changing v-nail sizes and the fact that the joystick could switched to either side. I work from the back of the underpinner with the frame facing away and the 5P accommodates that style better than some others

The larger table size, tilt stand and extension wings made an attractive package as well. I am about 200 frames into it at this point and so far I am very pleased. I'll keep you posted after the pure fun of a new machine wears off.
