Being new to both the Framing business & Quickbooks, I am requesting assistance from a "pro." I want to set up a thorough chart of accounts. If you believe you have a good division of revenue and expence accounts, I would greatly appreciate you emailing me your chart of accounts.

Obviously, I'm not asking for your financials-just something that will give me a head start with suffering through trial & error. In addition to framing (I have a 20 year CPF employed), I will sell prints, paintings, and posters. The previous owner will be allowed to continue to display his art on a commmission basis.

Can anyone please help? Thank you in advance for your help.

Quickbooks will set up a chart of accounts for you, from their library of basic business types. That will get you going. As far as a more specific chart of accounts.... it all depends on what your real needs are [ ex: asset(building / equipment management - lease - own - depreciation), payroll management, inventory management] and and your "wish list" for tracking purposes. You also have to take into consideration what your tax preparer wants and what form of business you are (sole enterprise - partnership - LLC - corporation).

Ok, I reply'd on your other thread. But, I'll mail you my chart.

Ok, I take it back ... I can't find a way to "save or print" just the chart of accounts??

If you know a way to make a soft copy, let me know.

sorry.

Cliff,
Hold the "ALT" and press the "Print Scrn" key. This copies the screen into your clipboard. You can then paste it into Word and save as a regular document.

I'm pretty sure you can go into Reports and print out a list of accounts. I also believe Quickbooks has a PDF printer driver that installs with it. Look in your list of printers and you should find a printer named "Quickbooks PDF", or something like that. Just print a PDF file and send that as an attachment.

I'm not at my shop computer with Quickbooks, sorry I can't get more detailed.

Ok, I was able to save it through the print reports menu. Took some monkeying, but it worked.

Denny, I am running QB 2002 Basic. Ain't got no PDF generator!
