I saw this reference in my morning paper.

For years the Detroit Free Press has offered reprints........now they are apparently doing "Quality Framing".

I would suspect that the displayed frames are actually digital paintbrush art and not actual frames. Note the great cropping and positioning of the art.

Frames:
All frames are made from Poplar wood produced at our framer's to our design specifications. Each frame has two coatings of paint to seal the wood and a third color coating that adheres to the foil used to produce the colors we offer. Four frame colors are offered; Black, Mahogany, Brushed Silver, and Natural Maple. The frames are assembled by hand in an assembly area that has the capacity of producing 15,000 frames a day.
THis doesn't sound like quality frames anyways.

I'd like to know more about the Natural Maple Foil.

Sounds like something that someone in the architectural plywood and veneer business should be aware of.

Whoever is doing the framing has to produce 1875 pcs. per hour. Now if a good framer could produce 10 pcs. per hour that would mean they have 188 employees! Yikes! Must be LJ doing it.

(Just having fun.)

sounds like an MDF type with the 'foil' statment, but then it also says 'poplar' wood, so it could be any production facility.. probably some BB's

Backing Board:
The backing board is a rigid graphic product that is pH neutral. The glue used to laminate the print to the backing board is a conservator adhesive used by museums

Conservators adhesive used by museums...maybe Mr Phibbs or Rebecca is doing their framing? This is a class operation. Cashing in on another dead guy

Who were theose two brothers from a couple of weeks ago? The Carey Brother? Maybe they are doing the framing for them(and saving them 100s of $1000 doing it!)!

Does anyone remeber the thread that mentioned the robotic frame assembler that was displayed at one of the trade shows.I can't remeber what it's rate of speed was but it was very quick( provided they were all the same size) and if you stretch the truth a bit it does require some ones hands to operate the computerized key board so maybeeeee.
Besides it would take a major player to afford one of those bad boys.LOL

C'mon Buddy, that was really just you in a robot uniform.

"Danger! Danger!, Will Robinson!

Gosh, I loved that show.

They only offer 4 frames, 2 mats, and 3 sizes.
With this limited selection everything would be mass produced (probably in china)and assembly wold be lightening fast.

They are charging $69.95 + $30.00 for the photo to frame an 8x10 with a single mat. I would love to get that kind of price.

Puttyboy ;I may be lost in space but no one in their right mind would pay as much as that thing cost for me to do the work.LOL

PS i wasn't sure if you meant the "Robison's show or the decor trade sho.LOL

Me too! I could work in about 10 a day of those. In fact, I would about trade all my custom work for 10 of those a day. I could be on the golf course by noon.

Both Buddy.
Just had a mental image of a guy fitting frames at warp speed and then it morphed into "Robot" from "Lost in Space". Sorry, took stupid pills today.

Myrtle Beach Jerry?

Best golf vacation I ever took! We played for 4 days non-stop.
A course called "The Pearl" ate me up and spit me out. Sand, sand, sand, sand, sand, sand, sand. sand.
