We have a client that is building a new 10,000 sq ft home and is looking for quality art by african american artist with an african/american theme. This home is valued at 1.7 million so posters and repros won't do.

Thanks

How about Ernie Barnes? or Gordon Parks?

You might consider Ernie Barnes, the painter who did the works featured in the 1970s TV show "Good Times." He lives in LA.

And of course, there's the photographic works by Gordon Parks. Or paintings by Romare Bearden.

I don't know who represents these artists, but it shouldn't be too hard to find out.

A North Carolina black artist by the name of Ivey Hayes does some really interesting work too. Alot of his work is of blacks working in fields, fishing, or in juke joints dancing to blues type music. His work is extremely colorful and very appealing (to me) due to his simplistic painting style.

I've had the opportunity to meet him a couple of times. He shows quite a bit of his work around the Wilmington area.

Good times is one of my favorite shows. I love that style of painting, so fluid and a neat glimpse of family and friends.
