Hello Wizard users!!!

Has anyone had any problems with their Wizard where it stops cutting in the middle of a job. During a simple one or not. What was the cause? Was it the data cable? or something else?

We need to figure this out!!!! I am wasting mats and corners. This week 2 more sheets.:faintthud:

I had this happen once at my shop with my 5000 .
All I did was shut down computer & rebooted it.
It has never reaccurred.

You did not cut it's salary & cancel it's 50 million dollar yearly bonus did you?

That happened once on my 8000. Tech support had me shut everything down, disconnect and reconnect the big black data cable from driver box to machine (do both ends), and restart. That did the trick.

Have you called tech support? If not, why come here first? If you called and were unable to get help, I would understand.

'Cuz just this morning I had the same problem. Tech support isn't open today and Vinney is probably like me and would like to solve the problem before Monday.

I wish I had a wizard to have problems with.

Some day my wizard will come.:p

My Christmas wish for all of you is that your technicians all speak your native language.;)

Hi Vinny,

I too have had this happen a couple of times, the Wizard just stops dead. On one occasion it was cutting the bottom mat, stopped dead, restarted cutting, but it changed to cutting the top mat on the cut screen it showed cutting top mat. I aborted the cutting but lost the mat.

I checked with my tech support guy here in oz and he pointed out that it could be Windows that causes the problem with low level drivers and sometimes it can be a bad cable connection (USB).
I ran a defrag of the Hard Drive then I ran Chkdsk.exe. After it fixed some faults the system ran well without this problem. It can be a number of things so check the cables, do a Defrag and run Chkdsk.exe.
To run chkdsk.exe open Windows Explorer and select the "Local drive C:/" then right click on the drive and a window will appear, move down to the bottom of that window and left click Properties. When the Properties Window opens you will see a tab at the top that is labeled Tools, click it an then select the Error checking button "Check Now" and a small window will open, then select the two check boxes. "Scan for errors and recover bad sectors"
"Auto fix file system errors" and then click Start.

It will not work straightway, but will ask if you want to run it the next time the PC boots up click yes and restart the PC. It will take some time to run when you restart.

I have done this a couple of times and the machine runs well. It was about 6 months between hissy fits. Hope this helps Barry:D

I too have had this happen and shut the machine down, checked everything, and rebooted... only to have it happen again. I discovered my air compressor hose was very cold... yep it gets cold here and it is right now. Get yourself a insulated hose wrap from home depot... and give this a whirl. I have also put some styro insulation on the back wall behind the mat cutter...
