I found this interesting as I was investigating sources for notecard printing. I have used Vista Print before, but more recently psprint with great results. Just thought I'd pass this on for anyone using Vista print to be careful where you click.

Those were people not reading before they signed up for something :) Be very careful about their webhosting service too. Folks claim that it's almost impossible to contact them or to turn it off, once you are signed up.

PSPrint is EXCELLENT. That's who we use too.

Thanks Steph,

I use Vista for many projects and to my knowledge have not had any problems. The quality is pretty good. I will double check my cc statements just to be sure though that there aren't any extra charges.

Thanks for sharing! I'll also check out the other company too.

I used Vista when I first opened...got some nice business cards and magnetic cards as well. They were really nice, but I also got the charges on my credit card for Passport to Fun...they took all the charges off when I questioned them, but I still don't know what I clicked to get it AND DON'T WANT TO...I won't go back there!

It also happened to my mother...something on her American Express and extra charges when she ordered something over the phone. She didn't realize what she was paying until my brother and I started taking over py parents bill paying...she had been paying the same fee for months and didn't know what it was. I called the company and they would only go back and credit her for only 6 months...even tho I told them she was suffering from the dreaded Alzheriers Disease...

It's not right!

Ditto for PSPrint. I've used them for rack cards, post cards, and posters. Good system, good service, good prices. West Coast work is done in Calif. I think....East Coast in PA.

I encourage you all to "shop locally", when possible.

Do you not have independent printers in your area that could do as good or better job at reasonable prices?? Maybe not, with many independents going under but we should all at least try to ferret these local folks out when we can. Heck, you might even get some reciprocal business from them.

Similar to our position on "on line framing" maybe?

I have all of my printing done locally. I might pay a little bit more (not much more, or the same), but I have the satisfaction of being able to "tweak" this-or-that with the printer, and to be able to ask for advice/ideas. And....referrals back to me, as mentioned above. Practice what we're preaching....local-and-independantly-owned businesses first.

Actually in my own defense I go to my local businesss whenever it makes sense. I have used two local printers with very unpleasant experiences. After talking to a couple of other business people I soon found out I wasn't the only one in either case. AND in one case the price was unbelievably expensive and the owner was rude. But thats ok, he isn't hurting for lack of my business, his custom home still got built.

I just wanted to post a warning, not have this become a 'buy local' thread. I'm looking for the best absolute price on printing a series of notecards to sell. So for the sake of resale I will shop where I must to get the best price or print them in house if need be. I've given plenty and refer plenty for my fellow local businesses.

I purchased about 2 years ago 5000 business cards with back and front printing. I absolutely loved them. I placed the order by phone. No problems at all. I paid approx $115.00 (shipping included) for them and they were "at my door" in 7 days. About a year ago, i ordered another 5000. The price was almost the same, and like my first order i absolutely loved them. I gave a few customers their website address. So far, no one has had any problems with unexpected charges. However, i recommended they call the company to place the order. I'm glad you posted the complaints by consumers posted on www.consumeraffairs.com. I will no longer give out their website to customers. I will be searching for another place to deal with probably by the end of the year. I do not deal locally because the cost would be about 3 times higher....

I'm with you on this Steph...I'm glad you brought up the problems with Vista, and hopefully this thread will help so no others get taken in by what they do.

I also use local pring shops, in fact I shop locally for just about everything I buy...not just for my shop. AND I also let the business that I am patronizing know that I am doing this and how important it is...and I also let them know about MY business, and then hand them one of my cards.

And I also made a sign that I have hanging in my entryway that says "Thank you for supporting a locally owned business"...an idea from another thread. And a good one!

Funny this is being discussed.

I took a brochure and work order form to a local printer. The first issue was that their proof had the wrong color purple on our logo and print. I went back in, picked out the Pantone # to get the exact color....next proof comes in and the logo is right but the type is wrong color. I contact them and I am told that I have to change the type color and resubmit it. HUH? On my PC, it looks and prints the right color! How can I change something that is not really wrong? Well, it's the differenct between the inkjet and laserjet printing, they say...come back in and we can print the proof to show you. I go back in, as they suggest. Oh, I am sorry, we are in the middle of a really big print job and can't stop it to print your proof. How about if we take your number and call you back to come in later today? THAT WAS almost 2 weeks ago.

What's up with that? Is this customer service? Oh, I did get an email today to come back in and view the proofs, but only because I ran into the business owner at a meeting...

Thanks for letting me vent.

Thanks for the warning. I don't think I would fall for it, but I'm disgusted that they are associated with such practices. I would encourage all who feel the same way to let them know why you aren't going back. The only thing worse than losing a customer is losing a customer who's upset with you but doesn't say so.

PSPrint looks good. They have some options/items that VistaPrint doesn't that may come in very handy.

We use a local printer for what we can, but they don't do any four color stuff, so we're forced to look elsewhere for that.
