Don't you hate it when a custome asks you to do something that you have never heard of?

Customer is looking for a solution that you soak your print in, and it will provide UV protection, and brighten the colors.

She said that she had it done in Arizona, and was looking to have it done to some more prints. If you know what she is talking about, please let me know.

Sue (more confused than ever.)

Sometimes customers have active imaginations. I had one years ago that was inquiring about a revolutionary new process to display inexpensive prints and posters. I finally had him bring one in and it turns out he was talking about dry mounting on fomecore.

Maybe someone was taking advantage of this woman and selling her a "non-service." Or maybe they used something like a McDonald photo lacquer. Or, just maybe, there's something out there that you and I have never heard of.

Naaaaaaaaaaah!

i worked with a woman once who tried to sell a spray adhesive for a vacuum press, on acid free foam core ..as an archival way to mount. i shudder to think how many people the customer told that to. the scary thing is...it was my boss that educated her. EEEKKKKKK!!!

This sounds like a confused customer.

Could it be that she remembers having a piece of paper treated with Wei'To? That's a soaking solution used to impart a buffer that reduces discoloration from acid.

It wouldn't give any UV protection, but it could be perceived as brightening colors -- to the extent that it delays discoloration.

As far as I know there is not soaking solution to inhibit UV damage.

Thanks, sometimes you just gotta go to the others in the field just to shut up a "know-it-all". I knew it sounded "to good to be true", but there are new things coming out on the market all the time, and it pays to ask.

I did tell her that I had never heard of any such thing, and that it sounded to good to be true... but you know how some people think that they know more than the framer. (You know, I only work with my hands, I can't be trusted to actually read anything.)
