Pricing and mat inventory program

True Grumbler
Apr 8, 2002
Small shop looking for a computer program, IBM or Apple, that will help in pricing the frame corners on the wall and keep inventory of mats in stock. Do not need all the bells and whistles just something simple. Anyone have or know of such a program, HELP !!!!!!! Ken
You probably won't like my answer, but here it is.
I opened this location several years agos and used an EXCEL Spreadsheet for everything.
Bought a POS (happened to be FrameReady). Best investment I've made of anything in the shop.
It does all of what you want plus many things that you may not have thought about yet.
Just my two cents worth.
A good POS program is like having an assistant. I went my first 6 months of business without one and I'm sure lost tons of money. Just the time it saves batching your orders by vendor and telling you if you have something in stock, makes it a worthy investment.

Absolutely the best investment I have made in my business by far. Ironically, I also use FrameReady.
This is worth a look…… http://estlite.scenes.biz/

I have been playing with the download Demo…I have to say I’m impressed…..it may not be everyone’s cup of tea but for how things operate in Ireland it has a lot to offer….John who developed this program is also a framer and runs the Irish/UK version of the Grumble http://estlite.scenes.biz/phpBB2/index.php?sid=c26079cc958430020f5377af2aa68976

BTW it will handle US$ and other international requirements and will allow you to use Inches or Centimetres or both…….you get a lot of bangs for your bucks from this program UK£80 which is about US$120 to 130 depending on the rate of exchange.

I use SpecialtySoft and couldn't get along without it. Not only does it save enormous amounts of time (pricing samples, etc.) but it helps when designing a piece to include all those extraneous things I used to do but didn't remember to charge for. To say nothing of keeping your vendor prices updated.
I found nearly 30 programs and compiled a list, if interested. Click on the FAQ link in my tagline to see the results.

We couldn't live without ours (Lifesaver Software). Whichever product you pick, it'll change the way you work in ways you havent discovered yet.
