Wow!

I just received the 09 PMA Conference schedule and it sure looks like it is going to be a great show - not just from a framing perspective, but many choices from outside of our industry.

The framing education also offers many new classes and has a very ambitious schedule.

ALSO, The Vegas Nascar race is the Sunday before the show opens, so it might be tricky getting that first nights room, so don't wait too long!

Cliff, are you saying that we can't just sleep in a NASCAR? :D

I agree Rob, the line-up is every bit as dynamic as last years. And I thought it couldn't get any better last year.
Some of the photo marketing seminars are also a "stand in the back if that's the only way to get in". It's going to be a very full week.

There is no Chinese Dinner at the PPFA Convention planned, only at the WCAF, though if I have enough people interested, I will plan one.

And, just to set the record straight, it is Rob Markoff's World Famous Chinese Dinner and Limo Extravaganza (patent pending) which Grumblers are welcome to attend, but it is not an official Grumble Dinner as ALL are invited. I am the originator, the emancipator, the architect of the dinner..........

There are many evening activities at PMA this convention, including the Beach Boys at Big Night.

FYI The Official 2009 WCAF Chinese Dinner and Limo Extravaganza in on Tuesday January 27th.

Thanks for the clarification and correction. All I know is that last year it was great; I will now make sure I go to the WCAF just so I can attend the Official 2009 WCAF Chinese Dinner and Limo Extravaganza.

I checked the pricing at the Renaissance and the Hilton hotels, and they were a little pricey, but I found the Sahara had a special price of $50.00 a night if you book before November 3rd. As this is also the headquarters hotel for the PIEA, they may have bus service; if not, I've been told the elevated tram (or what ever they call it) will be available.

You know, $150 for 3 nights at a hotel plus the $299 for the classes, plus what ever airfare there is, makes this much more reasonable than I initially thought. I've already signed up for my classes, so Baer, you are going to have to put up with me one more time.

Rob, I didn't see you down as having the hard wax finish class this year; those that took it last year said it was great!.

Yes, this year PPFA decided not to do many "hands on" classes. Last year they didn't do many "business" related classes.

So it looks like PPFA will have an excellent selection of "business" related classes this year.

I hear Proven Pathways to Profits, Developing Your Competitive Edge and Selling at the Front Counter are excellent classes.

Well, I booked my hotel room. I wanted to be nearer the bulk of the PPFA people, so I opted for the Paris which is connect to Bally's (the PPFA host hotel)

Through AAA I was able to book for $126 a night. Considerably less than any of the travel sites I looked at.

Haven't booked flight yet. Watching.

And don't forget your other discounts available: AARP, CostCo, BuyersGuide, International Association of Undertakers, Attornies Council, National Bar Association, NRA (oops sorry... that's only good in Wasilla, Alaska).

PPFA has some decent deals at the Bally's too.

...And in Ky during state fair week...Try the Kroger`s discount.....Or Federal employee....Yea I got that once, don`t ask! L.

And you can get some really cheap shots from Portland - Maybe more appropriate in Warped.

Cliff, Paris at 126 sounds fair. I read the reviews on TripAdvisor on the Sahara, and most were negative, so the $50/night sounded like a nightmare waiting to happen. I also looked at a place called Tuscany Suites, anybody ever stay there? Paris and Bally are a great location.

Not so cheap Pat. Where my AAA usually nets me a 10% off on hotel, at Marriott it's 40% off with AARP, and The US Bar Assoc is almost a blanket 30% (families of Lawyers can get with some wrangling). The others range from the usual 10% to sometimes in the circumstances up to 60% off.

Nothing to scoff at in these tough times. And for some of us less wealthy, it can mean the difference of going to Vegas or not. I suspect that there will be a wee bit more room sharing this year, and less "taking the spouse along".

Cliff, I guess this means we can meet in the middle again for that dinner.

I'm sure we'll be having dinner together somewhere at least once!

Two years ago when I stayed at Bally's I went over to the Paris for breakfast crepes most mornings and since they're connected, it's easy to walk over and pick up the PPFA bus from Bally's. I think the lower cost makes the Paris a good compromise.

I hope I see a lot of you there! (I know most of you are looking to WCAF whcih comes first, but I just can't do both. :( )

The NASCAR race and the show are making this a combo trip - fun and education all in one week! And it will definitely be warmer there than here in Ohio. It's been cold for three days and I'm already tired of it!

WOW! Breakfast crepes..... mmmmmmmm yummo! It's been years... hook me up big guy. It's also got to be cheaper than the $18 buffet at he Hilton.
