Hi, Sparrow. Welcome to the Grumble!

Give the bird a break it is his first post.

I use Lifesaver, but there are a few others, see Johnny's link it's a good one.

God forbid anyone should actually be helpful...

Sparrow, go to the link that Johnny provided. There you will find a chart comparing features of many different POS systems.

Once you've done that get in touch with some of the different vendors and ask for a free demo disk or download the demo version from their websites. Use them, try them out, write orders with them, try to break them. See what works best for you.

The three I would be sure to take a look at would be Lifesaver, Specialty Soft and Wizard's program. In no particular order, of course. And not that others aren't good, these are just some of the bigger names out there and ones I am familiar with.

Welcome to the grumble, and be sure to fill out your profile.

^FrameReady, too

Those are the top 4 in this industry. The majority of us us POS software. I can't imagine running a shop without it.

If you check the link in my tag line, you'll see the annual grumbler's technology poll. We do this every November, asking grumblers how they use technology in their shops. Among other questions, it asks which CMC, POS Systems, and Visualization systems they use in their shops. It's an interesting read.

Happy searching and welcome to the grumble!
Mike

We use a slightly different setup since our shop also included printing, gifts, used and rare books, in a web store.

We use Drupal with Ubercart / UberPOS for our POS. So our POS, webstore, and inventory system are all the same thing.

Our framing calculation are all handled by a calculation sheet that we keep separate, which might change some day, but it tends to work pretty well for us.
