Hi

I have a world war 2 pilots flight log book that the customer wants to show all of the book in the frame.
The idea is to encapsulate the book with the polyester.
My question is what thickness of polyester would be best for this, as my supplier only has 75 microns (3 mil) so would this be
OK to use.

Thanks kalta

Order Attach-EZ's Invisamount. It is easy to work, disappears
and available. Use it and Bob's your uncle.

Order the entire kit while it's getting shipped.... you will
never regret it.

Three mil will work quite well.

Yes, 3 mil Melinex 516 or Mylar-D would be most suitable for supporting the book, since the polyester film is very strong and resists stretching/deformation. Invisimount would also be suitable for the purpose. It is polypropylene film with a non-glare surface texture and less clarity, and the polypropylene stretches/deforms more easily than polyester.

Around here, encapsulating means sandwiching the item between two flat sheets of film sealed at the edges. If the book's thickness is more than a few millimeters, wrapping probably would work better than encapsulating. The Book Mount technique involves wrapping the book using two pieces of clear film, conforming tightly to the shape of the book and providing the best support, which could be important if the binding is fragile.
