I received my registration form for the PMA Canada Expo 2009 in the mail yesterday and was quite excited to see that Jim Miller is teaching a few seminars! I'm really going to try to attend this year and was wondering if there are any other Grumblers planning on going. I'm trying to decide on hotel accomodations - would like to book a room at one close to the Congress Centre, but I don't want to end up at a hotel that no one else is staying at. I think I've convinced my husband to tag along (he can do some sight-seeing during the day) and we'll make it a mini-getaway. This will be my first trade show. Although the WCAF and PMA shows in the U.S. are most likely bigger & better, the timing fits better for me in September as I really dislike flying in the winter. Just wish that Baer was one of the speakers too.

I'll be there! and will take in as many seminars as possible. Just a 30 minute drive from home for me, so I won't be staying at a hotel. It would be great to get out to some of the bigger events (my last one was Decor 2005 in New York)

Another speaker to take in is Ken Wong (my old marketing prof at Queen's) excellent speaker.

Looking forward to meeting other Canuk Framers, eh!

How convenient (and economical) for you, Julie! Thanks for the head's up about Ken Wong. I'll try to fit his seminar in too. Looking forward to meeting you and other Canuck framers if I'm able to attend the expo.

Right now, I'm looking at the Doubletree by Hilton or the Radisson Suite Hotel Toronto Airport as they look to be very close to the Congress Centre.

I was corresponding with Bob Moggach of PMA Canada earlier today and so far there aren't any confirmed framing industry related exhibitors, which is disappointing. He said it would be a good idea to have framers like us let suppliers know that we want to see them at the expo to see the latest and greatest products/equipment available to our industry.

Like to try it out but I am afraid its just too expensive right now!

That's too bad you can't make it, HB, but I know what you mean regarding the expense. This year, with Jim as one of the educators, I decided to bite the bullet and go. My husband is tagging along for a 'mini-vacation', which is nice.

I'm sure there must be many framers within driving distance who'd benefit from attending the show - even framers in upstate New York wouldn't have too far to go to attend. Toronto is a great place to visit (I wouldn't want to live there, but don't mind visiting ;) )

I received an e-mail from Sheila Purgloves (from the PPFA) earlier today as she saw this thread on the Grumble. She thought I'd like to read some of the feedback about Karla Elder & Jim Miller's classes at the PPFA 2009 this past March and said that I could share the comments here as well (may help sway some people in deciding to go :) ). Jim's classes for Shadow Boxes and the Clear Film Mounting both qualify as continuing education classes for MCPFs, according to Sheila.
