PMA 2011 Moves to September Dates

There was no "conflict" with WCAF... they were actually a week or so apart :icon11:

But this is great news as to leading into ALL of the Holiday season. (and for those interested... Rosh Hassanah isn't until the very last days of Sept.) so both PMA and DECOR are good to go.

Does anyone know if this means there won't be a PMA Canada show next year, since that is usually in September?

Interesting...

There are good points and some not so good points.

Going to Vegas, Florida, CA in the dead of winter felt great. Going to a hot spot at a great time of year, eh...on the East Coast and other parts of the country this is one of the most beautiful weeks of the year.

If one has kids, they are most likely getting their kids started in school. If one doesn't have kids, it's the best week to take vacation because all of the kids are back in school. Rates are usually great this particular week. The week after Labor Day is my week to close the shop because most of my customers are dealing with school.

It'll be great to prepare for the upcoming season, but will there be framing suppliers attending? I'm sure that this decision took so much planning and for the sake of our industry, I hope that it is a good move. I realize that PPFA is just a little part of PMA and the convention attracts participants from all over the world. I'm sure that there were a multitude of considerations.

The photo industry has pretty much morphed over into one component of the consumer electronics industry. With the much larger CES show happening in January the exhibitors and attendees were more and more conflicted about the two shows so close together.

In 2010 Canon didn't show at PMA...that was a big red flag for PMA.

On a smaller scale the same thing was going on with the Framing industry with the show dates of WCAF and PPFA.
