Hope that someone can help me! I have a photo customer that has printed on silver paper.......?
Not sure of the compnay but she says that it cant be dry mounted.
So we did a static mount to plexi and now she says that there are
"wet spots" on a couple of prints. The photos are hanging in a resturant not sure if the climate is the problem?
Any of your kind responses would surley be appreciated. (having a bad week)
Thanks so much!

Wet spots have nothing to do with Static mounting. I am assuming that you did a static mount to plexi (works on RC, chromes) that you then put a spacers and glazed the work. So the wet spots, could be two different things. First if it could be newton rings. This is when a photo becomes stuck to the glazing in this case in the front. It won't happen overall, it could, but most likely little dimples.
The second thought is that the static mount might not have taken perfectly, or perhaps lifted in certain areas. If the images is not completely flat and does not take all over perfectly then it will have little mounds. These mounds could then come into contact with the glass, making Newton Rings.

So what type of print is this? What type of paper is it on? What is the value? This is a traditional print, correct-darkroom, not a room that is dark and has a computer? This will determine the next step to take.

We are getting in a lot of these lately from the photo store we drymount for. We have not had any problems drymounting them with speedmount. But luckly for us the photo store still has the file so if one were to get screwed up, getting a replacement is no big deal.

I don't know what kind of photo you're talking about, but static mount works only for static-charged materials. Ilfochrome/Cibachrome photos are prinbted on plastic sheet, not paper, so they stick nicely by static.

A paper print would be an entirely different matter, unless you have some way to static-charge it. And if the humidity level is high, the static tends to go away.

What's wrong with edge mounting or hinging?
