Post Road Framers
We have had customer requests for a style of frames popular early last century and now maybe coming back. They are called pleinair frames. We have found a supplier for these: Pleinair Frames www.pleinairframes.com

Has anyone used this company? How was the experience. Any other good source for this style?

Thanks, Karl.

Hi Karl,
I have not used this company.
Omega Moulding has a Gallery Frame catalog with similar looks at a much better price.
Their # is 800 289-6634
You could also try JFM Enterprises. They have more ornate looks on closed corners but some simple ones as well.
Their # is 770 447-9740 or 800 462-3440
Good Luck !

No experience with that company, but the styles are available through most of the custom manufacturers on the east coast. APF, AMCI, Rhonda Feinman, C&J, and one that was in business back when these were designed...Thanhardt-Burger (mid-west). There are a bunch more, but those are the one's off the top of my head.

Hi Karl,

We buy our Plein Air frames from Omega. They are very well priced and have a beautiful finish. Basically, the "new" plein air frames are flat, 2"-3.5" wide, with minor art deco emblishments. The corners are closed (or finished without a seam). They are an offshoot of the "arts and crafts" era of architecture. However, some of the great plein air works are also shown with highly decorative frames.

A great resource for this type of work is the new "Plein Air Magazine". You can probably find it at Borders, Barnes & Nobles, etc.

WOW! Susan. Thanks for the tip on the magazine.. I'm off on a road trip to Barnes & Nobel. It's just about time for an evening Peppermint Mocha latte...
