TPFG would like to recognize the current sponsors, who make the forum possible.

A hearty THANK YOU to all of these companies: (in no particular order)

Even if you are not in a position to be buying right now, it is always a good thing to send advertisers a note of appreciation.

Looking at the posted list, we use 8 of the 14 companies listed and have had great experiences with them.
I've known Steve at AIM and Bill at Quinn for many years.

Is this a contest now? I've only used 6; so far. Who can beat Neil's 8?

10, 10, 8 and me with a paltry 6. Wimp be I.

Though I did buy Presto mouldings through Don Mar so maybe I can up me total to a still paltry 7.

My itty-bitty shop up here in the boonies of Canada only uses 2 of these supporters.
But I appreciate them just as much as anyone else. 🤩
I have visited the websites of all the suppliers to see what offerings of theirs I wish I could take advantage of.

Does it count if we have only used them rarely?
If one buy counts, the number is 13.

Not bad at all!

Shout out to Donmar, had my first delivery again today. Happy about that! And my regular driver, Richard. Good to see him again. I think all my moulding were Presto.

A huge thank you to Larson, too. Our frames ordered last month arrived today, except the 6 chops ordered 5/19. They got those shipped yesterday, and they are arriving Wed morning. Andy is going to be busy this week! ha We have taken 2 orders from Donmar already, too.

One of the things this thread points out is a long held opinion that most framers might be better served with fewer vendors. Reduced shipping charges and increased volume purchasing often results in better discounts and more gross profits
USED to be the largest 'silent' profit killer was freight; today, in our current biz, it's more true than ever
Great to 'spread it around', but not when it comes to profits

That was a lesson learned, Bob. Thanks for the reminder. The freight charges have been punctuated by add-on fees by some of the shippers for over-sized packages. New ones were added by UPS on May 30 to the tune of $35.00 for larger sizes.
My number comes from 40 years of framing and using different vendors along the way. Some I have only used once to procure matching proprietary materials for a customer. I actively use 3 or 4 these days, and have shifted some sourcing outside the normal framing distribution lines.

Wally thanks! we have a local company that years ago added a 'fuel surcharge' of $4.87 per order. I asked on our last order that since gas is half the price of a year ago shouldn't that be removed? On an order of 10 sheets of matboard that amount increased the 'real cost' by almost 50cents a sheet.
interesting comment on 'outside normal distribution'.
we do, too
hard to say in this particular thread, however

Seems to me more vendors should be sponsoring The Grumble! On that note.....I've noticed the forum donor badge under peoples names? Is there a link somewhere to make a donation to the forum that I missed?

It is true that the longer we have been in business that most of us will have used more vendors.

I use multiple vendors to get the product mix that I want. Some I order from less than a dozen times a year. I don't ask for or receive discounts or special treatment, and sometimes the shipping costs make me gulp. But the customer really pays for this one way or the other.

Most vendors have provided me with some really personalized service when I had an unusual need.

For every snafu with a vendor large or small, I can come up with at least a dozen times they went to extraordinary lengths to help me without being asked.

Just taking a few minutes to follow their links and learn more about them is worthwhile. I often find out that companies that I only think of for one thing offer other products and services I did not know about. There is one vendor currently advertising that I had never heard of before their ad appeared here. Another tool for my box.

For vendors: The G is having a June/July "Framer's Dozen" promotion, which adds one free month to any new 12 month contract, or two months to any new 24 month contract.

We will manually adjust the expiration date after your ad is live.

As always, thank you for your support!

Ah good point.

Wizard, Larson-Juhl, and Vermont Hardwoods updated their ads since I posted the original message. The old ones do not display as a result, because they were deleted from the database. The original post was pulling the images from the banner database, not as attachments. I fixed that, too.

Today would be an excellent day to click on the Vermont Hardwood Ad! They have done a major overhaul of their website. And there is a nice surprise for framers who are ready to order.

I just started using Quinns Saw blades! their incredible...and my business engraved on the blades was awesome too!

And don't forget that they have matching serial numbers on every pair of blades so you know which goes with which. Handy when you send off 10 blades for resharpening and need to pair them properly when they get back.

A warm welcome and sincere thank you to our newest sponsor, Smallcorp.

I have been on a tour of their facility before, with NEPPFA, and it is quite an impressive operation.
