Although I primarily focus on sports memorabilia I have ventured into the framing of entertainment pieces, especially guitars. I have found ideas for design either by mimicking designs used in album cover art or other well known imagery of a particular band or artist. If that doesn't work then I will try to design something to compliment the artist or band. These are just a few of my favorites, most are done with an in-lay technique that really work well for these boxes.

A little of both, if the wizard can't cut it or it just needs to be hand-cut then I will cut piees by hand. Ideally I will cut the pieces with the Wizard though for ease with the inlay.

Thanks, these are by far the most fun pieces to do. I've done about 30 guitars over the past year or so. Thankfully they sell very well and I'm able to keep making them.

Er, I may be wrong but I don't think anyone has said "Welcome to The Grumble"

So I just did!

I love it when someone says 'Boo' like this and blows everyone away.

WOW!!!

An amazing amount of construction work on top of beautiful design work!! Love the Floyd one! Shine on you Crazy Diamond!

My thought exactly!....So,how much these run?... L.

Beautiful ...they are all my favorite.

FREAKIN' INCREDIBLE!

Now I really feel inept!

Great stuff!

Liteman,

Normally held in place with heavy wire, normally black, run around the strap connector and neck then through two sheets of gatorboard and a metal bracket so the wire won't cut the gator. I also will use screws through a piece of 1/4" plywood about 3x5 placed in a cut out on the 2nd gatorboard directly under the body of the guitar. I only use this when shipping but we ship all over the world and I can't have these coming loose during transit. This is also only done on items we purchased or with permission from the owner.

So, those are all pretty dang stunning.....

Toby who?

I don't know who Toby Keith is(go out on a limb here, and guess guitarist?) , but that is one great looking box. I like the depth of it and the wrapped look of the flag. Awesome!!

Ron,

Careful out on that limb buddy. Thanks for noticing the wrap around, that hoestly is the hardest part when closing one of these. I place the mats and walls in position leaving the glazing out. Once i have the walls lined up with the mats I will remove the mats and take a small piece of masking tape fold it in half and slip it between the wall and the box so that the tape is now stuck to the wall and the box. I will then take a razor blade and split the tape. This helps when assembling the box becasue I can line up the pieces of tape and know that they will line up with the mats one they're in place. I've tried several other methods but this works best.

The proof of a good job at the theme, is that before I even enlarged the pictures, I could tell who they were for. Amazing job all around!

Do you have a website?

What venue did one sell for $25,000? How much do the guitars cost by themselves?

dave.

Dave,

Thanks, I wanted no doubt that you knew what you were looking at and more importantly I wanted the fans of these bands to see these as items they just had to have. Yes we have a website but most of this type of work never makes it there. These usually done one at a time and thankfully most of them sell at auctions so we never show them on the web. We do have our "normal" stuff for sale there with a few other pictures of misc items.

What I placed on here were items that don't normally get shown except at our very high-end auctions. The bulk of our business are auctions but only a small percentage are the kind that require this kind of work. To be honest I really don't remember where the guitar sold for $25,000 but we had a Beatles piece sell this past weekend for $18,000 in Canada. You just never know.... Our buyer has a source or two for guitars and again I really don't know, I just design and build the fun parts!

My guess is paying. Your work is stunning.

Fantastic Work.............

2 Questions

The rounded corners on the shapes in the Rolling Stones..........are these cut on the Wizard??

What kind of a hanging system do these require??? Silly question maybe but I have never seen this kind of framing with so many items and so large??

Thanks

Thanks, the Stones box is all cut on the Wizard and we use wall buddies for hangers. I use about a 4x6 piece of 1/4" plywood screwed and glued into the corner to reinforce the frame in the corners under the hanger.

I would love to collect those. Your presentation is wonderful. I love the colors and the theme you follow. Great job and welcome welcome...
