Picture Framing - Workshop Production Software

Is anybody using production software in their bespoke picture framing business ?
In an ideal world, once the job is captured at the front desk by pricing software / visualisation......that data would be given over the network to the workshop stations which could interface , and take jobs for the various elements of production directly onto the CMC / Saw / Underpinner / glass , backboard wall cutter etc, Then as each task was completed that confirmation would be fed into the system at each station.....so a live status could be viewed from the front desk / back office etc.

Talking to the trade show vendors , it appears that no one yet has a complete solution. Would be interested to know if anyone has knitted these elements with a 3rd party solution.

What you describe would more likely be useful to a very high-volume operation. I think it would fall into the category of manufacturing process control.

That said, it's an interesting thought! If I can ever get anyone to bankroll me to write my Perfect POS, I'll consider that as a feature

Existing Production software

Yes, my company has such a system that can send either a paper work ticket or electronically to a workstation or Ipad. We are currently set up to send or receive to front counter stations. wood saws, metal saws, glass station, Plex station, Mat cutting, Fitting and QC. All can be accessed from a central sever. This system cost about $50,000 USD in 1998, plus regular updates.

We have, but not implement camera feeds at each station so someone on the internet could follow/watch an order go through the workshop. Our system is Filemaker based, but only runs on Macs because of some custom API's we wrote. We originally developed it for sale, but decided we wanted to be FRAMERS not programers or help desk people.

The system also handles multpule retail locations, wholesale, internet and job costing. Everything pulls from the same inventory with seprate pricing schemes and discounts that can be used in each catagory.
