I wonder if Denmark wouldn't have been a little simpler. A lot of what I saw in Copenhagen was more restrained municipal architecture than, say, France or Italy of the same period....

You could also go with dutch ripple frames.

AMCI-Regence has a number of closed corner frames available but they also, I believe, came out with some ripple mouldings that are first class and considerably less expensive than closed corner frames. You'd have to call for numbers as I have samples, but they are at the other location.
