Adobe has released Photoshop Elements 11.

I am really looking forward to this, because I'm currently using versions 9 and 10, both of which have the hard-to-read gloomy black interface. Version 11 has gone back to the light colored interface, has sensibly re-grouped the tool icons and made them larger, as well as other changes that look to make the new version a lot easier on my 58-year-old eyes. Also, they have made it much easier to add third-party Actions and Layer Styles, which in the recent versions has been a very iffy proposition, even for serious computer geeks. (No offense, Mike.)

I resemble that remark! :)

We are still using Photoshop CS5, and need to get up to date. GREAT program!

Is it up to CS6.5 now? CS7?

For most stuff, Photoshop Lite/Adobe Elements will be sufficient. It's a great product, and has most features of its bigger sister.

I just looked it up. It looks like CS6 is the current (2012) version, with CS7 coming in April 2014. (to be for TABLETS ONLY) That's an odd move for them, IMO

We just installed CS6 which was a significant upgrade from the 2003 version of PS7. I was hoping to be able to change the hard-to-read gloomy black interface to a lighter color.

Amazon.com CS6 $466.00 down from $515 last week. OOPS/SHUCKS/DARN

Yes, Elements is an incredibly powerful and useful program. I find that unless you are sending stuff to a service bureau, and need color separations or other pro technical features, Elements is the way to go, and is a fantastic value.

BTW, there is a forum for Elements users that looks and feels just like the Grumble. There are a lot of helpful people on there, including authors of the how-to books, etc.

I got a copy of elements with a new scanner that I purchased. I decided to put it on the counter out front so that I could do some playing with it while attending to browsing customers. Sure it does plenty well, but I really prefer CS5 to it when it comes to creating ads and graphics.
