I am searching for ideas on how to mount a photograph between two pieces of clear acrylic sheet, permanently. This would not be a "one-off".

I think the issues are:
1) Adhesive must be optically clear and non-yellowing
2) It must bond to acrylic
3) It must not attack or damage the photograph prior to full cure
4) Sheet size could be quite large (up to 1m or more in length)
5) Thought must be given to the application/lamination process to preclude air bubbles or other contamination

My understanding is that this application is currently achieved by a proprietary liquid silicone adhesive based process, which is not
openly available. One brand name is "Diasec".

Any suggestions for specific products would be appreciated.

TIA,
Peter

One of our photographer customers just bought a laminator/mounting machine that will mount or laminate to substrates such as metal or acrylic. Try looking into companies in your area.

A local photographer just had this done to a series of unique photos he exhibited at the local Museum of Modern Art.

He used a company in San Francisco after studying all the companies that offer this service in the US.

My understanding is that the process is not proprietary, but the requirements for an absolutely clean environment in which to work is the limiting factor.

Thank you for your answers. I am specifically interested in details of the adhesive used. Does anybody know?

Some contemporary photographers "face mount"
their photos to acrylic sheet and those who buy
these photos are often looking for conservators
to take scratches out of the acrylic shortly
thereafter. Mounting the photo's back side
to a sheet of acrylic sheet or aluminum sheet
and spacing a sheet of acrylic in front of the
photo in a well-designed frame, is a much better
option.

a LOT of laminating companies sell optically clear double sided adhesive
www.codamount.com is one that I use.

You just need a regular cold mount laminator to apply and a clean dust free environment.
