Today I replaced the really old mats with new Alphamats on a couple of portrait photos and cleaned up the old frames.
The photos (11 x 14) which were obviously handpainted were on glass! The glass was a creamy colour throughout its entire thickness.
I have seen a few small daguerotypes before, which were photographic, but these were handpainted over the whole surface of the photos.
Can anyone give me any info on this type of photo?
