Hi there,
I have a Fletcher 3100 and it is not cutting an exact 90 degree angle, it's also 1/16 short on every cut.
Does anyone know is it easy to fix yourself or is it something for a pro?
Thanks,
Kevin

There should be a cam style adjustment screw under each of the bed rails. Using a framing square you should be able to get it pretty close. The mismeasurement is something you may have to live with since that was established when the measuring tapes were put on in the initial set up of the machine.

I think that if you go to Fletcher's website you can download a PDF of the owners manual that will show you how to make the adjustments.

Edit: Here's a link to the diagram for the adjustment https://www.fletcher-terry.com/pdf/Parts_3100.pdf Parts 4,5,6, and 13

I suggest that you download the owners manual before you attempt this adjustment. I have adjusted mine with my manual. If you can't get the manual I will copy that part from my manual and email it to you. It isn't real complicated but you need to follow the manual. You could end up worse if you don't.

And a good hint is to use as a squaring pattern a large piece of glass just out of the box. True 90 degrees and readily available...

Ellen,
They allow ± 1/16 inch for size and squareness on box glass- more on pallet glass.

Mat board, acrylic, Gatorboard, etc. all have tolerances for squareness and will probably NOT be square.

While not all mat board is square for a quick adjustment place a sheet of matboard in the cutter and slice 1/2" off. Once you have made the first cut the board is now square to the horizontal bed. Now now cut a second half inch strip and fold the strip in half and compare the 2 ends for equal sizing. Adjust the cam as needed.

Repeat the entire process until square.

use a metal carpenters square to be sure its true...just don't try to cut it ..really hard on the blade.

The tape has just a small amount of adhesive on the end, maybe a couple of inches, if that. You can lift the tape from that little bit of adhesive and move it to calibrate the measurement.

Before you adjust anything, make very sure that all the very tiny pieces of glass that collect in the rail are swept out (we use a brush and a vac.) Even the smallest piece, if it gets under the edge of a sheet, while throw off the square. Keep that channel clean!
