After i enter the size of a mat(s), borders, etc. and i click "PathTrace", a window pops up stating "Caution: It is recommended that you save your mat design before using PathTrace." so i do. My question is: When i complete using PathTrace and i click File/Save File As a save file window pops up using Wizard as the mail folder. Below it is a list of files to pick from...BMP, ClipArt, Configs, CutArt, Fonts, Frames, Help, HPGL, Images, Locales, Mats, PALETTES, Skins, Textures, and WizDraw. Why doesn't a PathTrace file pop up? What file should i put it in and how do i open it to use it again? Should I or would i have to open it in PathTrace? (It seems a WizDraw folder should pop up to save it in, but doesn't.) Thanks.

When I save a file in PathTrace, I don't get the list of files that you listed. But, it does default to save in the Wizard directory, with the other items listed as subdirectories. Most customers save their PathTrace files in the Wizard directory so they can find them again, or, if you prefer, you can save them in the CutArt directory if you are saving them as a CutArt. If you really want, you could create a PathTrace directory under Wizard, and save your files there. Whatever you decide, just keep it simple so you can find the files again later.

Don't forget that we have many articles and tips on PathTrace and other Wizard software packages on our website at wizardint.com.

I saved a design in one of my Wizard folders named "Temp1" just to see if i can open it. I can, but NOT when i am in Wizard, but only in PathTrace. When i open "Load Saved Mat" i cannot find it anywhere. However, when i open PathTrace it does show up in the temp folder i created. A design created in PathTrace can ONLY be opened in PathTrace? Please explain. Thanks.

Load Saved Mats will only open up Saved Mats. It will not open up Path files or CutArt. So, it would depend upon which file format you saved it in. If you saved it as a *.WCX or *.WCA (CutArt) or as a *.Path (Path file), they would not show up in the Load Saved Mats directory.

CutArt are loaded from within the Editor by Clicking Add CutArt Opening from the Openings Tab. Path files can be opened in PathTrace. Path files are useful to save a design that you are not finished with and cannot yet trace to save as a CutArt.

I scanned in a tracing so that I could design a mat. It was saved as a tif file on the network. When I tried to open it using the load design, it stated that the file was not compatible for the wizard. Any suggestions. Thanks

Make sure you are loading it into PathTrace on the Trace and Draw Tab with the Load Image button. Make sure that the file isn't too large (1-2 Megs should be fine but larger will bog down your system). Is the file saved as RGB or CMYK? RGB is better, as I've only had problems with CMYK. Since you have it saved on the network, you might have better luck copying it locally to avoid any network traffic problems which would interfere with loading it. Also, if it was saved on the Network, make sure that the author has closed the file before you try and open it from another location.
