Path Trace Help Needed

I know I'm doing something stupid, but I can't figure out what. I'm doing a design in path trace and when I take it back to cut, it's showing both the top and bottom mats highlighted when I need to cut bottom first and then top. I know I'm doing something wrong back in path trace, but can't figure out what. Please help!!

You are forgetting to change the layers when you trace it.
