I did a quick search on this forum and didn't find a whole lot on this -- people recommended going through the actual company, but I checked their website, and the corner fence is around $410. I'm guessing shipping would make it near $500

Theres a ITW AMP for sale on CL near me that I can get for $200 or less, but its missing that fence -- Its an older v-nailer, and the guy said it works, but the corner fence would bring it up to $700 -- definitely not worth it considering I have another option for only a few hundred more that is in like new condition.

Do any of you know of an alternative way to get parts for the ITW AMP VN-2 besides through ITW AMP? Used parts are ok -- anybody know of someone selling parts off of an old ITW AMP that no longer works?

I recently purchased a replacement fence for a VN-42 from ITW AMP. They have a replacement fence assembly without the adjustments. I bought that one and prefer it over the adjustable fence. I don't recall exactly how much it was, but it was way less than $500. You have to call and ask, I never found it on the website.

Fence issue aside, you may be better off spending a little more money to buy the machine that has been well cared for and is in good condition. This would be a better VALUE in the long run. If properly maintained, these units will give decades of good service.

Welcome to the Grumble.
The standard 90 degree fence without the tilt adjustment is on their parts list for $43. It's a couple of pages (page 3) past the tilt fence on the parts list at www.itwamp.com Click on "parts" and click on VN2+1 (same parts as VN2). I own a VN2 myself and have repaired others.
This is the front 90 degree part that attaches to the sliding block if you have that. The tilt fence is $410. This is also just the front part of the fence. Hopefully you have the sliding block with the 2 stops that the fence attaches to. The like new one might be worth the extra money if it doesn't have air leaks.
I know a lot about this machine if you have any questions. The only problems I have come across are air leaks which are usually easily fixed by replacing seals and o-rings. Phil, the tech support at ITWamp is also very helpful.

Once an ITW/AMP machine reaches "old", you'll find a host of problems. Worn controller valves, leaking seals....air leaks. Parts remain expensive for this machine.

Not to say that it can't be fixed, but you've got to be dedicated to learning everything about the equipment. Take a peek at how many different parts are in that machine. Tons of problems have similar symptoms. And have a deep pocket.

Over time, you'll find you would've been better off getting a new one. I opted for an Inmes with a much simpler design...which is easier to diagnose...and has FAR fewer parts.

This is experience speaking. I did both.

Thanks for the replies everyone. If I knew it was just the corner fence, It might be worth it. But, looking at some pics I was sent, it looks like way more is missing than that. Additionally, I don't know how well the machine has been taken care of...it looks kind of beat up. I'm afraid the combined time and cost of trying to rebuild this machine will be higher than getting a newer machine. I think I'll go ahead and spend the extra money and get something that is in good condition to start with and will last a long time.
