My computer seems to be using a lot of Page file space lately.
It is an xp.
Opening the task manager when I first turn on the computer. The page File is down around 100MG but by mid day and using it the page file grows to 2G and as high as 6G. Slows computer down and has even frozen it up.

Any thoughts?

The page file is used to manage virtual memory. For it to be growing like that, something's allocating memory and not freeing it. Either some app has one or more memory leaks or you have a virus that's doing it on purpose. The Task Manager Processes tab should give some idea about what process is taking up the memory. I would also look at the most active processes, those whose CPU % is highest or changes the most.

If this just started happening recently, what changed? New app installed? Updates installed? If so, try removing the new app or updates and see if it settles down. You might also try System Restore to restore the system to a known state when you know it wasn't doing this.

Have you checked to see if there is a virus on your machine? I'd say that would probably be a good place to start.

I did a Zone Alarm scan came up with nothing. Did a restore back to the 29th march
still piling up.
task manager processes looks like
the culprit may be BrccMCtl.exe any idea what that is?

It looks like it's a printer monitor for a Brother printer. Did you recently install drivers for a Brother printer?

You might try uninstalling the current Brother printer driver & reinstall using the newest version from the Brother website (unless the problem driver is the latest version, in which case try reverting to an older version, maybe the one that came with the printer if you've had it a while?). All depends on what happened when.

Here's the Brother drivers link --> http://www.brother-usa.com/Support/#.U0Ll9_ldXTc
