We are just thinking about the possibility of software for the business and wondering what framers software packages are the majority of Aussie Framers using? and are you happy with it etc

I have not made any enquiries yet to see if any of the software that is discussed regularly on the Grumble are compatable in Australia with our GST etc

Many thanks for any feedback, hints, etc

Hi Juiev,

There are several vendors in the AU market. I believe the major players are: ESTLite, FrameIT, FrameMan, FrameSmart, Framiac, and Royall. If you find any others, please let me know.

I maintain a list at http://www.getthepictureframing.com/gfaq/software.htm Look for the Australian flag to compare features of the above mentioned packages.

You may also want to check:

The picture framers guild of Australia: http://www.artdomain.com.au/cgi-bin/pff/YaBB.pl

PPFA Australia: http://www.ppfaaustralia.org/

I think you'll find whatever you choose to be a great tool. I advise getting demo's of each product available to your market, to try them out. See which one works best for your situation, and give it some serious thought. Run some transactions through, and learn how the system works. Write down some questions, and test out the quality of the support you receive. With this "homework" done, you'll be sure to make the appropriate choice that applies to your business.

Hi Juiev,

Most of the US based written software packages are not optimised for our tax laws, let alone to work in metric.

There are basically two software "Australian Based" packages to choose from, which are optimised for both our tax laws, and metric calculations. Majority of Australian Framers operate with one of these two.

Please find their website links below -

Framesmart - http://www.chameleonsmart.com/framesmart/framesmart.php

Framiac - http://www.framiac.com/

Both have their pros & cons. Mike's advise is good. Try demos, ask questions, etc.

This should give you a good place to start.

Kind regards,

Oz framing software

Hi Juiev

Custom Framer V4.0 is available in an Australian version

When you register your copy you get a CD with a setup that includes the Antons line of mouldings. You can also add other major Australian suppliers.

You can set the program to metric or imperial and set local taxes.

The trial can be downloaded from www.artframer.com

Heck I use Framesmart and if I were located in Australia there is no way on Earth I would choose anything different!

I have downloaded both suggested programmes and I can not open either of them

I may need to start another thread on how to open them :icon20:

I don't think they have been unlocked for me yet, I have "read the license agreements" and sent off the numbers in the click button and read the tutorial but when I click on the icon it flashes once and nothing happens.

Will wait until the end of today and see what happens

thanks again everyone I appreciate your time :icon21:

My recommendation is for Framesmart. It's great software and I'm sure Ronnie will help you get a trial version going. I've tried both and found that Framesmart suits me better.

His Visualisation software is also great, so why don't you look into that too!

Custom Framer V4.0 in Australia

Juliev

if you had problems downloading or setting up the software did you contact the companies and ask for assistance. Sometimes it can be a simple thing. Files can become corrupt during tranmission. I know that Custom Framer V4.0 has a number of users in Australia.

Thanks again to all for help and suggestions etc
I will contact them all tomorrow and get it sorted out:confused:

We have had a few days off while the other half went to Phillip Island for our latest motor cycle world champion and home grand prix winner :smileyshot22:

thank again
