I am trying to locate oversize that would come in oversize. The overall dimension of the mat is 43 x 43. Would like a taupe color, I know true vue has the monster mats but in a limited color range and my suppliers to not carry them. Any suggestions on what to do? I know I could probably hand wrap a linen mat, but the customer wants a color on the inside which I can use 40 x 60. I do not think wrap linen looks good in a double mat combination. Thanks and I hope someone has a solution.

OK, OK, What I've done over the years is do fabric with a filet. In some cases I will paint the filet if needed. It always looks good with fabric. You can also add a paper color under the filet with nice results also.

I agree paper under fabric is never a good look.

Falconeast has a flat mat liner that you can get with end wraps or continuous cover in all the fabrics they offer.

Raphael's (some call it Master Source) carries the Moorman Suede fabric in length, and all colors I think. You could mount this to a mat board then cut it just like a regular suede.

A couple of thots ...

I have, in the past, had pretty good results cutting strips of matboard from a full sheet CUTTING ON THE DIAGONAL. Granted, the corners need to be mitred but I've been able to use a 32x40 mat for frames LARGER than 32" (40x60 mat for a frame larger than 40").

Is there a general disdain for a double mat where fabric is the top - main - mat and paper is the accent? If so, I'm in the minority! Well over 75% of my mats are like this. ouch!

Thanks for the info on the oversize mat board
I did contact Falconeast about the flat mat liners. I did find that TruVue makes what they call monster mats (48 x 72) that come in about 12 colors. I came real close to the color that the customer had picked out, but I am not starting the job without her ok on the mat color. LeWinter Moulding in PA carries the mats. Since I am not in the local delivery zone it will cost about $50. in shipping costs. Oh well thats the cost of doing business. I am glad I quoted the job on the high side. For once in my framing life.

If you are looking for the TruVue Monster mat where are you? WE have a couple and will custom order for you. We are on the left coast, (West Coast). Let us know if we can help.

Have you heard of my old friend "Common Sense?"

Either Crescent or Bainbridge make a 48 X 72 matboard in rag available through Lj.

I know crescent makes a 48 x 72 board, but only in white. I did order from LeWinter and they shipped it in the next day. I am located outside Philadelphia. The job is done and the customer loved it and has recommended another friend with the same piece of artwork. Hopefully she will want the same framing. The first challenge clears the way for the next job.
