Hello, I was wondering if someone might have some ideas for me. I am framing two Terry Redlin prints for a customer. They are similar in style and are the same size-oversize for the 32x40 mats the customer picked out. They will be framed with the same moulding and matboard, and will hang together. I will have to come up with a design that hides the fact that I am using 2 pieces of matboard. I have done abstract designs in the past with other oversize projects, but I don't know if the Terry Redlin type prints will look good with that treatment. Would anyone have any design hints for me? Thanks!

Can you find a pretty close match to the mats in the 40x60 size, and get the customer's permission to use those? A couple of times I've found a 40x60 match for the top mat, and used the 32x40 for the bottom mat anyway -- I just cut the bottom mat with a 1-inch mat border. You're only seeing 1/4-inch of it anyway.

What mats are you using??

Artique for example has similar color mats to Bainbridge that are oversized when Bainbridge are not.

Ask your Larson Juhl rep for a cross reference sheet which shows which mats are identical.
