I am running a Mac under OS 9 (usually). I was so impressed with the Gateway Defender in my “Framersloft” ISP, I thought I would do the same spam filtering (SpamBuster) in Earthlink.

However, in order to generate a list of “allowable e-mails” for Earthlink to recognize, I have to import them in the Outlook Express (Comma Separated Value) format. My version of OE normally sits unused (it is a product of the Evil Empire, after all), so I cranked it up and imported my Address Book from Eudora into OE. No problem! All of the entries appeared in tact in Outlook Express’s Address Book window.

I then exported the OE address book into a text file, and, lo and behold, it was in a Tab Separated Format. No problemo, methinks! I used a word processor to globally change all of the tabs into commas. But, … it no longer was in a format or configuration that the Earthlink SpamBuster would accept.

So, I figured, maybe I have to import the original OE address book directly into the SpamBuster. Okay, … but I cannot find it! It’s not in the Preferences Folder (where you’d expect), nor is it in the Outlook Express folder, nor is it anywhere a mortal like me can find it.

I tried a search of my volumes with “Microsoft”, “OE”, “Outlook”, “Express”, “Address”, “Book”, and nothin’!

I tried a search by time thinking I could locate it by noting when I created it, and nothin’.

I tried a search for invisible items, and nothin’.

I am at a loss! Does anyone know where Microsoft hides its document, Outlook Express Address Book, on a Macintosh?
