Starting this AM, when I attempt to print an email from Outlook (2003/SP1) it deletes it and prints the one above it instead.

It deletes it completely, doesn't move it to Deleted Items. It doesn't matter if I use Ctrl+P or File > Print.

However, IF I can Preview it (only available in RTF and Plaint Text) it doesn't delete it and I can print it.

I recently (last week) changed from McAffee to Panda AV. Panda did find a few viruses as soon as it was installed that apparently McAffee didn't. It's set to check for updates every two hours, and has checked since I first had the problem.

HELP!!

Hi David,

I'm shooting in the dark here, because these are an odd set of circumstances.

Is it possible you have UNREAD MESSAGES VIEW turned on and these messages are being marked "read" after a certain number of seconds - making them vanish from sight?

Check the VIEW pulldown -> Current View -> make sure UNREAD is not selected.

If this is indeed the case, the messages will come back once the setting is changed.

Best regards

Mike,

I don't see that option. However, I have lots of "read" messages currently visible, so I don't think that's the problem.

They are being deleted as soon as I press Ctrl+P. By the time the Print Dialog comes up I can see that the message is no longer there. If I go ahead and try to Print anyways, it prints the one that got selected after the one I wanted was deleted.

I should add that this only happens when I print from the Outlook preview window. If I open the message so that it's in a window by itself it doesn't happen. Or, as I mentioned the first time, if I'm able to do a Print Preview it's fine.

Are any MACROS installed? Check Tools -> macros

Mike

I have heard of a similar issue but don't remember how it was happening exactly, check to see if it is saving them as Journal entries.

No macros. But Lance's suggestion made me do a bunch of checking and fooling around. From somewhere a "SPAM" folder got put in my "Personal Folders". It's way down at the bottom where it would be normally hidden because the list is too long. As far as I can tell it only has the items that disappeared when I "Print"ed them. I still haven't figured out what's causing them to go there, or why it just started happening, but I feel a little better now.

You may want to look in: options -> junk email -> junk email options

Perhaps a setting there is causing it to be extra strict?

Junk email is set to Low. The SPAM folder is new (as far as I know), and separate from the Junk E-mail folder.

I do use a plug-in called SpamBayes, but have been using it for several months.

The messages never get put into the SPAM folder unless or until I try to Print them. As soon as the Print Dialog comes up they go into the SPAM folder.

It sounds like some kind of conflict between Outlook 2003's spam facility and the third party being run in tandem with it. (SpamBayes).

I scanned the SpamBayes support forum and didn't find a match for this issue, but I'd look there first.

I'd try disabling SpamBayes temporarily, to see if the problem goes away.

Mike

I just uninstalled SpamBayes and have the same results.

Re-installed the latest update, same results.

I would be looking into the Panda program you installed, it is possible that it reconfigured some settings in Outlook and you may need to unistall/reinstall that as well.
