We are comming up on our second anniversary in the framing business. The shop is presentable and we'd like to comemorate the date by having an open house. Our community is miniscule in terms of population and huge in terms of geographic area. Would love to hear about your experiences with this type of "promotion".

Our gallery is in a building/mall environment anchored on both ends by a Saks 5th Ave store and we are on the 2nd floor with no street visibility except for a small display window.

There's an escalator between us and a very nice Italian restaurant. We've worked out a deal with them (no cost to us) to do wine tastings in front of our store once a month in season. These are essentially "Open Houses". I'm not sure that you can equate the success of these in immediate dollars but in awareness, they are great, so we will continue doing them.

The restaurant gets business and we get people into our gallery that never knew we existed. Eventually this will result in business.

Good luck.

Joel
