Opinions Wanted Onyx 90.

Anybody out there in grumble land have a Onyx 90? Im about to buy a media cutter and was wondering how it compares quality wise with the Fletcher 3000.

Check through the archives and you'll find this exact question asked at least twice a year... And you'll also find the majority of respondents leaning towards the more expensive F-3000 (Read my signature please).

Although framers often praise what they own, I think without a doubt that the F-3000 might be the best all around, versatle and durable multi-material machine when compared to the 5-6 brands/models/options that have emerged over the past 30 years.

If you want to score glass, cut fomeboard/mats and whatever else is usually handled by one of these machines, and you don't have a ton of money to invest in it, the Onyx 90 is a fine machine. I'm homebased and not a large volume framer, so it works well for me. Just my 2 cents.

We're relatively new to the business (opened Dec. 1, 2009) and we opted for the Onyx 90. It's been a fine piece of equipment so far. The only thing we've not done is cut plexi with it.

We've been using an Onyx90 for a few years now. When I needed a replacement for our C&H the choice was the Fletcher @ $2700 or the Onyx @ $699. I really didn't have to think very much about that! It's a machine that does what it's meant to do.
