I had one of my favorite customers come in a while back that brought me a variety of Dr. Suess books that she had read to her kids when they were young.

The books were falling apart and had much water damage from a flood they had years ago.
She brought them to me to frame for her upcoming grandchilds nursery.

Her stipulations..........
1. Primary colors
2. white frame
3. Be Creative.....:D

Seeing that I even got to pick whatever ones I wanted to do......
I chose.....
~Cat In the Hat
~Green Eggs and Ham
~One Fish, Two Fish
~The Foot Book

FRAME LJ 210286
Mats.......VARIOUS SCRAP
Size........12x16
CC glass

All of the characters on the mats are hand painted the hand lettering...took about 2 hrs for each mat.

Let me tell ya.......I had some WACKED out dreams when I went to sleep after working on these until late at night!! :D

Sorry about the pics.......I need to find a better way to take them :faintthud:

Customer loved them by the way.........She was very overwhelmed...and I just snagged the job to do design the baby shower invites!!! ;)

Beautiful job Nicole,

The foot book brings back fond memories for us. We read this book to our grandsons. One grandson is now in college and the other grandson is thirty months old.

BTW: I love all of your work.

Very cool Nicole!

Can you say, "copyright infringement" or "Counterfeiting"
Don't worry we won't tell! :p

WELL......whatev..............!!!! CUstomer told me to do it........:D :D :D

THanKS guys, for the comments!! :D

Ps Paul.......................thats not really me in the 3 rd one.....I have an evil twin who absolutely sucks at taking pictures.....;)

2 Kewl!

Handpainting is great! And the white frame is a good choice, too.

Next time you take the pictures, do it before putting in the glass.

As a fan of Theodore Giesel, these are a blast. I like the design and idea behind saving the childrens books as an art project.
I need to go back and read his biography...I have been searching for a book to read.
Thanks

I Totally Love this customer........
I just got a call from her.....she couldnt wait until the baby shower to give them to her daughter!!!! LOL :D :D :D
She is way cute!!! I'm still blushing!!!!! :o
Thanks guys for all your comments! :D

Nicole, i just found your post - you are a very talented artist and did great artwork for the customer. You handpainted the mats - may i ask what colors you used? Acrylics? I often wondered if the mats could be painted.... Now i am nosy, how do you charge for your painting service - by the hour?
Have a good week and i hope you have many more nice customers like the this one.
