I have just come across the purchase paperwork for the 'MORSO MITREING MACHINE' that my Dad bought in 1955. I am still using it! It's a dark red/maroon open frame machine with an engraved scale, Imperial,of course. Both sets of the original blades have just enough metal left to be ground maybe a couple of times now. I use them as spares or when I Have to cut down in sizw an old frames that may have hidden nails fro joining etc.

Serial no. 1807. Can you beat that?

Dermot,

You once mentioned how to date a Morso from the engraved information on the machine. Would you remind me how to do that? I don't have the original paperwork, but because mine is green, I expect it is just middle-aged.

Alan and Dermot,
On this side of the pond I might have the oldest. It's #1942 and from the Morso site that Dermot put up I found it was made in 1956. I don't know if that's so great, I'm 3 years older, I have all of my original parts and I work pretty good too.

Any one else?

Jyden guillotines/choppers are made in Denmark as are the Morso machines, a good friend has a Jyden guillotine which has given many years of service and will give many more years of service, the Danes sure know how to make a good guillotine/chopper.

See Jyden at www.hphansen.com

I'm sorry I do not know who the US distributor of Jyden machines are.

Don't feel so bad I'm six years older than my Morso, and what is left of my original parts are working OK the one piece that is missing God was very good and gave me two when we can get away with one.
