I have just spent a very interesting hour or so - I clicked to all topics, saw some very interestin grumbles and noticed Merps Mom and Ron Eggers have been here right from the start. Congratulations Framer on what you have created. When I have more time I'll go back again, it's worth a look. Hooroo - Alan

Alan,
You're right (in part.) There's some good stuff, starting on May 3, 1998. Here's a link you can check out if you want to "start from the beginning:" (It has since been pointed out to me that the original Grumble is actually several years older than that and that May, 1998 merely marked the launch of the current version. Periodic refinements have since been made, resulting in the well-oiled machine we all enjoy so much today.)

History 101

The early Grumble had 19 registered members, including MerpsMom, Le and OregonJay. Alas, I arrived late to the show - later than you, actually.

I still remember when I first "discovered" The Captain Kangaroo Show and its mix of education and entertainment. I was probably six years old. I felt very much the same way when I found The Grumble, so I hope you'll be patient with me if I sometimes act like a six-year-old here.

By the way, Alan, did you and the other little Aussies watch Captain Kangaroo when you were kids? It seems like you should have.

Ron Eggers

Ron, out here in the sticks we didn't get a watchable T.V.service until 1974 - I know that cause that's the year we got married and for a while there we didn't have time to watch T.V. - I can remember going on holidays to a cousin's place on the coast and drooling over Gun Smoke and other stuff in B/W - at least I think it was Gun Smoke, it was a fair while ago and I've destroyed a few brain cells since then but I can't remember Captain Kangaroo.Damn I knew I had a deprived childhood. Ah well we'll have to make do with the Weakest Link and all those other wonderful shows . HA HA Regards Alan

Alan, if you don't remember Captain Kangaroo, how 'bout his sidekick, Mr. Greenjeans, or Dancing Bear, or Grandfather Clock?

Can't imagine growing up without all those characters!

Janet - Don't forget Bunny Rabbit. He was my favorite - always getting into mischief.

(Is it time to move this thread to Warped? - or possibly Weft?)
