I have a customer asking about photos from 1950 that are curled from being in a shoe box. They are Browne type B&W, any idea how to make them lay flat?

Chris Panchecke(and I know that I didn't spell that correctly) had an article about that very thing in a recent issue of PFM. Gave step by step instructions on how to do this. ;)

Chris Paschke. She is the expert on mounting and using a mount press. If they are, as I supect, completely curled into a roll, don't try to unroll them by hand what ever you do! You'll crack the emulsion. They were probably printed on a single weight fiber based paper. A photographer who does their own black and white printing or a photo lab that does custom print might be able to help you. If the emulsion is not already crack too bad (peek inside carefully), they can be gently rewashed in a tray with a mild solution of photoflo and water, then carefully dried between two racks and blotter paper. If still curling, wet back with damp sponge and redry.

Anne, I can't tell you how embarrassed that I am! I had just read Chris' article, and forgot all about you. My sincere appoligies.
