Retired from the grind
I’ve been a fan of Old Grange Graphics for several years, but I’m at the point where I have to withdraw my recommendation.

Two weeks after I sent in a print to have transferred, I got a call from accounts payable at OGG saying that I had never established an account with them. I went through my records and gave her several invoice numbers dating back to 1996. The terms on this account were Net 30. I had never been late with a payment.

She refused to accept this information, and stated that I would have to resubmit my credit application, but, until it was processed, I would have to give her a credit card number. Not wishing to delay the customer any more than necessary, I gave her the store’s VISA number. I immediately faxed another credit application to her.

I am sure she way lying!

The completed transfer arrived the next morning – way too quickly for her to have accepted the credit card, processed it, transferred the print to canvas, stretched it, boxed it and shipped it. I am sure that the work had been finished before she called.

The transfer which was a “Museum Wrap” was pitifully done. Part of the image overlapped onto two of the white sides and part of the image “bled” so that the white sides were stained. The customer wanted to hang this canvas as is without having it framed. Because of this overlapping, uneven stain, now she cannot.

A tag (probably an internal routing reference number) was laminated into the canvas. It is so well sealed into the laminate, that I cannot remove it either with pliers or a razor blade.

I believe that they asked for the credit card number so that I could not easily dispute or withhold payment to my existing Net 30 account.

Repeated messages left at Old Grange Graphics have remained unanswered.

Does anyone deal with another canvas transfer company who will accept “outside” prints i.e. does <u>not</u> require you to purchase the print from them?

I got so many hits doing a Google search that I cannot easily wade through them all.

You can still challenge the charge with Visa. If the work is inacceptable and they won't return your calls, even more reason for Visa to refund your money.
I thought they were supposed to represent the consumer in disputed charges.

Back to OGG. My first (and only) experience with them was enough to make it unique. Until I find someone else that can do the job well and in a timely fashion I will not offer the service to my customers.

Bill,

I've only done a few, and have been happy with DonMar's MES program. The turnaround was pretty good, They picked it up when they dropped off my delivery and brought it back two weeks later.

They send it to Canada, so your print will have lots of miles on it before it gets back to you! But like I said I was happy with the quality of the work, and the price was acceptable. Also the convenience made me want to use them.

I just called Old Grange today sparked by the post here. On Feb 2, I placed an order by phone for a poster and to have it transferred and stretched. They have no record of me placing the order, but somehow they do have record of taking my Amer Exp credit card info that day.

Neither of the gals in the order dept can figure out who accepted my order, but insist they never received it. Funny they got my credit card info though. HMMMM!!

Bob,

I’ve been reasonably pleased with the MES plaques, but haven’t tried their canvas transfers.

Until now, I have liked OGG’s ability to put an “aged and cracked” surface (I used that a fair amount) and “brush strokes” (rarely) on their transfers. According their binder, a satin finish is the only option available through MES.

If anybody has any other alternatives, I would greatly appreciate a post.

You might try Frame It & Co 888-768-7375

Also the Print Mount company does transfers.
