I was just looking for a document on my Windows 7 laptop under the Libraries > Documents > My Documents. Found what I was seeking but also found what looks like 3-4 copies of everything I ever had on y old website, nav buttons, thumbnails, etc.

And here is the creepy part - amongst all of these thousands of files I am also finding what looks like mug shots of criminals, little ads, and I even saw a photo of a gun!

What the heck is going on?

Where on earth are these things coming from?

The mug shots banner/add are paid placements. Look in your spam e-mail box and it will have a ton of criminal background reports.

Mar, those guys on Facebook and Twitter aren't just stalking you.

They're trying to recover their info from your laptop.

Do you have a panic room?

Time to release the Guard Cats!
Give those guys a good case of Cat Scratch Fever!

Perhaps it was a cache of sites you visited recently with your web browser.

It seems I have to clear history by myself. It was stuffed back to February. How can I get t to clear history on a schedule? (Windows 7) I figure I never need anything more than 24 hours.

And I do delete bookmarks as I no longer need them.

BTW, clearing those three months of history got rid of the bulk of what was in the Documents file.

But I do not understand how they got there in the first place. If want to save a picture, I save it - if I am just skimming through websites - how can that stuff be in my Documents file? History, I can see - Documents? What the heck?

I’m a Mac guy and don’t know too much about Windows machines, but I end up with tons of left over images from e-mail ads and spam.

Those junk images go directly to the trash file, so they’re easy to find and destroy, but yours may be sneaking into a documents folder somehow.

I usually find in situations like this that it is time for the Tinfoil Hat.

Do you cover the computer or the monitor with the foil?

I've found that placing a mousetrap on the power cord keeps unwanted images from sneaking in.

Nice ideas Bill. The foil really worked, I covered the monitor with the foil and now I can't see any pictures, and the mousetrap worked as well, it cut through the power cord and tripped the breakers so now the computer doesn't send any pictures to the monitor at all. And none of those pesky words either.

Now I am freed from the clutches of the interweb, and I can go outside and have some fresh air :)
